This painting feels different from much of my work, but it was something I felt deeply compelled to create. It was inspired by a sculpture by Frans Krajcberg at Casa Roberto Marinho - the same place I painted Arte Vai Te Curar. The piece moved me profoundly, stirring a personal reflection on what it means to be a woman.
Reassurance symbolises the strength and complexity of womanhood, reflecting the intertwined nature of power, pain, and resilience within the female experience. It also honours the passing of wisdom, love, and care from mother to daughter, and the strength held within that bond. The hand reaches toward something raw and blood-like, not in fear, but in reassurance and love.
