⭐︎ Hi! ⭐︎

My name is Marina Giffoni Kenton. My practice explores themes inspired by nature, womanhood, and the subconscious. Around 2019, I began documenting my dreams and nightmares as a way of processing them. Having struggled with insomnia for much of my life, this ritual transformed restless nights into a creative outlet.
These recordings became the foundation for a body of work I continue to return to, both as a form of therapy and as a source of inspiration. Driven by a fear of forgetting the beauty and significance of fleeting moments, I translate these experiences into physical forms, creating a sense of permanence. Through symbolism and colour, I aim to evoke light and imagination within a world often marked by darkness and pain, inviting the viewer to form their own emotional connection.
At its core, my work is about memory, identity, and the ways we hold onto what shapes us, both seen and unseen. It is through this lens that my personal experiences and cultural background begin to intertwine with my practice.

Having dual English and Brazilian nationality has been a privilege in shaping how I communicate and connect with others. I return to Brazil whenever I can, nurturing my relationship with family and culture. Across both places, art and nature remain a constant-shared language that bring people together. Being part of two distinct cultures has deeply influenced who I am today, even if at times my sense of belonging has felt uncertain.
I struggled in school due to severe dyslexia, within a system that often prioritised our uniforms over support. This fostered a lack of confidence at a young age, but art and language became spaces where I could navigate the world with confidence. I found ways to visualise and communicate beyond traditional structures. Growing up in an artistic family, I was always encouraged to channel my energy into creative expression.
Art and creation remains constant in my life. I am committed to evolving my practice, pushing it forward, and ultimately pursuing art as a full-time career.
Thank you for being here to follow my journey
Love, Marina ⭑
